Dr. Natisha Dukhi is a Research Specialist at the Human Sciences Research Council in the Department of Social Aspects of Public Health. She has spent the past 13 years working as a Medical Scientist and Public Health Researcher, specializing in Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathophysiology, as well as Clinical Nutrition at various universities in SA. Since 2013, she has been involved with community health and NGOs, and further exposed to health promotion. Her passion towards health promotion accelerated and she served as an online mentor for the Triune Uganda 2009 Global Project for Pharmacy and Social Science students from countries in Africa, America, Europe and Asia. In 2015, Natisha completed a PhD in Public Health. She is actively involved in research relating to Maternal, Adolescent and Child Health in South Africa and globally. She is on the Executive Board of Directors for the Public Health Association of South Africa (PHASA), and current chair of the Scientific Committee. She is a board member for the World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, a member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World, and International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE). Natisha is an Affiliate Member of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) for the period 2019-2023. She also serves as a reviewer for various national and international journals. In 2018, she was a recipient of the Gro Brundtland Award for outstanding work in the field of public health and sustainable development.
