Position:  Medical Officer (Paediatrics) 
Locations :  Witkoppen Clinic- Gauteng
Reporting to:  Head of Department- HIV

Qualification and experience

  • MBCHB
  • Diploma in health / public
  • Post graduate Paediatric qualification
  • Post graduate qualification in HIV/AIDS and TB       
  • 2 years experience in Paediatrics
  • 2 years experience in HIV/AIDS/TB medicine

Key performance areas amongst others include

Clinical Care

  • Implement Comprehensive HIV Care, Management and Treatment (CCMT) programme (+/- TB programme) at facility level.
  • Manage Paediatric Patients diagnosed with HIV/AIDS/TB according to provincial and national guidelines.
  • Improve and maintain the physical and psychological condition of Paediatric patients
  • Continuation of treatment
  • Facilitate holistic approach to patient care and co-ordinate input by the multidisciplinary team.
  • Chairing\ attendance of MDT meetings

Networking

  • Liaise with RTC management regarding clinical related matters.
  • Liaise with local community clinics, referral hospitals and other relevant institutions.
  • Establish CCMT programmes (+/-TB clinics) at present and new facilities
  • Closer cooperation with peers and patients

Training and CME

  • In-service training for medical officer’s (MO’s), Nursing and other relevant health professionals.
  • Chairing/Attendance of multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Membership of Professional Council (HPCSA), attendance of academic meetings, and acquiring necessary CPD points.
  • Keep abreast with present developments in the field.
  • Continued Medical Education for best current practice and HPCSA CPD requirements.

Legislation, Standards, Policies and Procedures

  • Familiarize self with rules and regulations of the Health Act and other relevant legislation.
  • familiarize self with Right to Care Standards, Policies and Procedures.
  • Compliance with Rules and Regulations of the Health Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Compliance with Right to Care Standards, Policies and Procedures

Administrative Duties

  • Keep statistics of patients seen as directed by line- manager.
  • Generate monthly reports for line-manager.
  • Facilitate optimal running of clinic
  • Efficient Site Administration and Statistics
