Position:          TB Programme Specialist

Location:         Gauteng, Right to Care offices at Helen Joseph Hospital

Reporting to:  Chief Medical Officer and Group CEO

The incumbent will be responsible for the management of Right to Care’s National TB Program and monitoring the implementation of the activities of the Right to Care TB components. Will support the organisation’s strategy to strengthen the technical and management capacity for and in partnership with the Department of Health.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBChB
  • Post graduate qualification in Public Health Sciences(MPH, MSc, or equivalent) with a strong background in HIV/AIDS and TB
  • 2-3 years working experience within the TB field
  • Experience in data management
  • 3 years relevant experience at national level in providing management and advisory services
  • Focus on impact and results for patients and respond positively to feedback.

  • Lead the TB programme team effectively and demonstrate conflict resolution skills 
  • Have a consistent approach to work with a high energy level and a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Build strong relationships with patients and external stakeholders. 
  • Must demonstrate openness to change and ability to manage complexities

Key Performance Areas amongst others include:

Programme Management:

  • To assume the operational management of the TB programme – plan, initiate and manage project activities  in accordance with Right to Care rules and procedures.
  • Design and formulation of the TB treatment cascade
  • Improve and support integration of TB and HIV programme efforts
  • Participate in and promote the organization of events, forums etc. on TB Prevention and Control, DR TB, HAIN testing, etc.
  • Expand the TB Focal Points within the organisation structure.
  • Roll-out and training on new diagnostics
  • Support and implement the SAG TB initiatives and sound contributions to knowledge networks
  • Play an active role in implementation research where relevant
  • Maintain close co-ordination between the Right to Care TB programme with other SAG HIV/AIDS and TB initiatives to ensure and promote continuity, partnership building and avoid duplication of programmatic activities.
  • Coordinate and implement TB programmes with the DoH and other partner organizations
  • Support the work of the TB technical committees and provide advice on TB programme strategies to these committees as required.
  • The incumbent will be required to travel throughout the Right to Care supported districts in the country
