Assistant Director: TB/HIV

Exciting opportunity for a persons who wants to make a difference. At the DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, DIRECTORATE: HIV/AIDS, STI’S AND TB (HAST) (NORTON ROSE HOUSE, CAPE TOWN).

Remuneration:  R270 804 per annum (salary negotiable)

Service benefits: 13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance.

Requirements: Minimum educational qualification:

A health-related degree registrable with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or South African Nursing Council (SANC).

Experience:

  • Appropriate experience in TB/HIV Programme management particularly in Isoniazid Preventative Therapy (IPT), intensified TB and HIV case finding (ICF) and infection control.
  • Experience in the provision of TB and TB/HIV services.
  • Experience in community and primary healthcare services and its management.
  • Inherent requirements of the job: A valid (Code B/EB) drivers’ licence and willingness to travel.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):

  • A thorough knowledge of TB and HIV.
  • Strong leadership, managerial, organisational, strategic, operational and contingency planning skills.
  • Knowledge and application of regulations, policies, procedures and indicators relevant to TB and TB/HIV.
  • Understanding of the district health system.
  • Project management skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Public Health or equivalent will be advantageous.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):

  • Develop TB/HIV/STI integration policies, strategies, annual performance plans and protocols in line with national and provincial policies for health service development and delivery of health services.
  • Assist, co-ordinate and support districts, sub-districts and hospitals with the implementation of TB/HIV/STI integration in line with provincial and national policies, protocols, strategies, annual performance plans and information systems.
  • Assist, co-ordinate and facilitate effective, efficient and sustainable financial planning and control of earmarked funding for TB/HIV/STI integration.
  • Co-ordinate, monitor and evaluate the implementation of TB/HIV collaborative activities and the supervision/quality assurance process of the HAST programmes.
  • Assist, coordinate and manage the interface between the national, provincial, district, local and other partners.
