Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders is an international medical NGO which provides assistance to populations in distress, including victims of (natural) disasters, wars, conflicts and epidemics. MSF has been operating in South Africa since 1999 and in Lesotho since 2006. The Mission currently has 3 projects throughout South Africa and Lesotho, focusing on HIV/TB.
Based in Rustenburg, Gauteng Province, This position will be part of a mobile team, provide training and support to healthcare workers in the field, and implement programme strategies. A professional nurse is required to provide nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.
Education, experience, knowledge and skills: Essential recognized nurse degree/diploma. 5 years Nursing experience, ideally with forensic, or willing to be trained in forensics. Registered with the SA Nursing Council. Leadership and strong communication skills. Good knowledge of common office software (Microsoft Office). Fluent in English and one other local language. Experience in both public health and NGO sector showing a willingness to adhere to the humanitarian principles of Médecins Sans Frontières. South African citizen or a valid South African work permit.
