Health Teaching Platform Manager

UCT’s Primary Health Care Directorate (PHCD) seeks to appoint a permanent, full-time Clinical Teaching Platform Manager, reporting to the Director, as from 1 January 2014. The purpose of this position is to provide strategic, operational and logistical support to the ongoing development and effective functioning of the Faculty of Health Sciences clinical teaching platform.


  • Strategy development, planning, policy development and execution of the clinical training platform
  • Management of stakeholder relations & partnerships
  • Management of finance, budgets, human resources and infrastructure
  • Management of operations of the clinical teaching platform
  • Management of health and safety
  • Monitoring and evaluation of initiatives and reporting as required.


  • A 4-year Bachelor’s degree or an Honours degree
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a management position in the health sector or a tertiary education institution
  • Experience of report writing and evaluation
  • Demonstrable budgeting and financial management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PPT and MS Outlook
  • Drivers licence and preparedness to travel.

  • Understanding of teaching & learning, and research
  • Knowledge and experience of health and safety policies and practises
  • Experience in community outreach, development and social responsiveness
  • Experience of networking, advocacy and dealing with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Creativity and innovation, and ability to facilitate change.

The annual remuneration package, including benefits for 2013 is between R542 073 and R637 748, and is negotiable depending on skills and experience.
