The South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative (SATVI), located within the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IIDMM), UCT, is involved in novel TB vaccine research. We are seeking to appoint a highly experienced Epidemiologist and invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointment to this 3-year contract position.
The main purpose of this position is to develop the organisation’s capacity to do advanced epidemiological studies. The Chief Research Officer will further be responsible for developing and sustaining a TB epidemiological research component within SATVI to complement TB vaccine development. Successful grant funding for new projects, development of a corps of epidemiology post-graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, and publication of high impact papers will be key to the success of this initiative.
The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is between R539 218 and R837 169, depending on qualifications and experience.
