Senior Medical Officer (Tzaneen)


Participate in all phases of comprehensive medical service to clients.


  • Clinical management of HIV patients at different government facilities
  • Train all categories of health workers in HIV clinical management
  • Coordination of the doctors–unit at Khutso Kurhula
  • Development of guidelines and protocols
  • Develop and perform research activities
  • Report to clinical manager
  • Active participation as a team member in shared decision making
  • Clinical work at remote rural clinics
  • Adhere to guidelines of Department of Health & Social Development
  • Liaise with Department of Health & Social Development
  • Responsible for doctors rosters, supervision of doctors in cooperation with clinical manager
  • Participate in developing procedures for down referral of ART
  • Report writing (proposals and evaluations)
  • Supervise and perform monitoring activities (register book)
  • Supervise and train use of patient files and health passports
  • Help with ongoing research activities and develop new initiatives
  • Managing and leading the roving teams


  • Must be registered at HPCSA
  • Experience and training in HIV and ART clinical management
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Teaching experience
  • Good English writing skills
  • Experience in use of computer (email, internet, MSOffice)
  • Experience in rural health care
  • Valid drivers license and preferably own car.
  • Proficiency in English and local languages (sePedi, XiTsonga)
  • Proven ability to work with people from all backgrounds
  • Senior Medical officer, preferable with Family Medicine or Public Health degree
  • Training in ART
  • Drivers license
