PHASA Student Congress

The Student Congress is a brand new addition to this year’s 9th annual Public Health Association of South Africa (PHASA) conference in association with the African Federation of Public Health Associations (AFPHA).  It will take place as a satellite event to the main conference on 24 September 2013 at the Cape Town International Conference Centre.

The theme of the event will be: “Defining the Legacy of the Next Generation of African Public Health Leaders”. We are inviting students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) who are interested in the discipline of Public Health from all over Africa to attend. The aim of the event is to create an opportunity for students from across Africa and the world to meet with each other and with experienced public health professionals. Dynamic speakers and group sessions will focus on topics such as the role of students and young public health professionals in shaping the health of Africa. There will be opportunity for participants to present research and showcase their work to like-minded individuals from an international audience.

We are excited about this opportunity to influence the next generation of leaders who will be shaping the discipline of Public Health. The Organising Committee for the event is already working hard to make the Student Congress a huge success.  We have involved young public health students and professionals from across Africa and even further, creating new opportunities for networking.
