Founded in 2002, by President William J. Clinton, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other illnesses. Based on the premise that business oriented strategy can facilitate solutions to global health challenges, CHAI acts as a catalyst to mobilize new resources and optimize the impact of these resources to save lives, via improved organization of commodity markets and more effective local management. By working in association with governments and other NGO partners, CHAI is focused on large scale impact and, to date, CHAI has secured lower pricing agreements for treatment options in more than 70 countries. In addition, CHAI’s teams are working side-by-side with over 30 governments to tackle many of the largest barriers to effective treatment and care.
The CHAI Rwanda program is partnering with the Government of Rwanda in an effort to reduce chronic malnutrition and the impact of severe acute malnutrition. Because the approach is cross-sectorial, involving many stakeholders from backgrounds not immediately related to health, the CHAI Nutrition Team will act as the coordination mechanism that ensures that the joint effort remains focused on maximizing public health outcomes. As well, the program will likely introduce new products to market, requiring a public awareness campaign. Thus CHAI Rwanda is seeking an Public Health Program Officer to serve as a focal point for all stakeholders on issues of nutrition and to support the development and implementation of a national nutrition awareness campaign.
Candidates will work closely with government and private sector counterparts and must therefore exhibit outstanding communications skills and cultural sensitivity while driving her/his work stream forward under tight deadlines. The candidates must be comfortable working independently and have a deep personal commitment to producing the highest quality results. CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities: resourcefulness, entrepreneurialism, tenacity, independence, humility, and work ethic.
