The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is one of four Universities in Africa ranked within the top 400 institutions globally. We are planning to grow our activities such that we become ranked within the top 200 institutions. We therefore seek to appoint top quality researchers into key strategic areas of growth and development. Appointments will be Fractional, with the staff member retaining their current appointment at their home institution, but being jointly appointed by UKZN.
The staff member will be expected to undertake research and postgraduate supervision in the name of UKZN, and to develop linkages and collaborative projects with existing staff and students at UKZN. The staff member will be expected to travel to UKZN to achieve these outcomes, but does not need to spend a continuous three month period at UKZN.
Funds will be provided for two round-trip visits, and some funding will be available for start-up costs. However, staff members will be expected to raise the funds necessary to support their research.
The line manager will be the Dean and Head of School into which the appointment is made.
As high level appointments, the expectation for these positions will be in excess of the University benchmarks which are available on the university Vacancies website.
