Summer School in Biostatistics 2012

The summer School in Biostatistics 2012 is jointly hosted by University of Pretoria (School of Health Systems and Public Health) and the University of Witwatersrand (School of Public Health) with visiting faculty from Erasmus University (the Netherlands), Hasselt University (Belgium) and the Human Sciences Research Council (South Africa). It is intended for all Stata users in clinical medicine, epidemiology, public health and biomedical or veterinary sciences. The venue will be the Hatfield campus of the University of Pretoria.

This exciting event has been expanded to once again provide something for the young researcher as well as the experienced statistician.

Week 1: 8-12 October 2012
A Two day course "Introduction to biostatistics for Health Researchers" followed by three days of either "analysis of biomedical data using Stata" or "Analysis of biomedical data using R".

Week 2: 15-19 October 2012
This week will be aimed at an intermediate audience who have completed the first week or who already have completed basic biostatistics training. There are two 5 day options 1) Statistical considerations in clinical trials (including computer practicals in Stata) or 2) Generalised linear models (GLM).

Week 3: 22-26 October 2012
This is an course and again there are two 5 day options 1) Bayesian data analysis or 2) Infectious disease modelling.
