MAC AIDS Fund Leadership in HIV Prevention: A Collaborative leadership programme with the Joint Gender Fund (MAFLIHP) is a fellowship programme run in partnership between the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and the University of California Los Angeles
(UCLA). This fully funded fellowship programme, building upon the MAC AIDS Fund Leadership Inititative led by the HIV Center at Columbia University, is designed to support the emergence of new leaders who will contribute to the development of effective approaches that reduce the spread and impact of HIV & AIDS and gender-based violence, and to promote gender equality.
Fellows will attend three full-time, residential training workshops between June 2012 and February 2013. Under the guidance and supervision of experts in the field, Fellows will develop an HIV and gender-based violence prevention pilot project during the first training workshop and will implement the project between July 2012 and March 2013. Fellows will be provided with a total amount of R 35 000.00 excluding VAT to be used exclusively for the implementation of their MAFLIHP pilot projects.
Applications for the 2012 – 2013 MAFHLIP Fellowship Programme are being solicited from prospective candidates. The following minimum requirements apply:
Applications will be accepted until the close of business on 07 May 2012. Short-listed candidates will be invited to an in-person interview in early June. The first intensive training workshop will take place in KwaZulu-Natal from 24 June to 11 July 2012. The second training workshop will take place between 10 and 12 September 2012. The third training workshop will take place from 03 Feb to 06 Feb 2013. Pilot projects are to be implemented by Fellows in the periods between the training workshops, with interim written assignments.
