The purpose of the Association Of Schools Of Public Health In Africa (ASPHA) is to provide African Schools of Public Health with a forum for sharing innovative ideas and adapting scientific knowledge specific to our particular environs to promote health, reduce disease burden and alleviate poverty to help accelerate health development in Africa. As the last continent on the block to form an Association of Schools of Public Health, Africa is happy to provide the platform for the formation of a federation of all Schools of Public Health in the world to work more concretely to set targets for us and devise mechanisms for achieving these. It is the conviction of ASPHA that through sharing in the experiences and skills of the more established Associations of Schools of Public Health such as the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH), Asia Pacific Academic Consortium of Public Health (APACPH), Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) and European Academic Global Health Alliance (EAGHA), we can develop faster and impact greater on the health of our people. We are positive that this forum will create a wonderful opportunity for networking amongst the faculty of the various Schools of Public Health.
The 3rd Annual General Meeting And Global Health Summit will be held from 9 – 10 December, 2012 in La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra, Ghana. The theme is "Policy and Health Systems Research – The Contribution of Schools of Public Health". We intend to hold two plenary sessions with speakers from all the continents as well as poster presentations during the conference. The call for abstracts for oral and poster presentations will be issued shortly.
