Call for Applications: SACEMA Postgraduate Bursaries in Epidemiology

SACEMA is calling for applications for postgraduate (MSc/PhD) bursaries for study in 2012.

SACEMA is a national research Centre of Excellence, funded by the Department of Science & Technology, administered by the National Research Foundation and hosted by Stellenbosch University. As a national centre, SACEMA funds students working in Biostatistics and Mathematical Biology and Epidemiology. SACEMA’s work focuses on the mathematical modelling of disease transmission and progression, particularly in relation to South Africa’s major health challenges.

The full-time bursaries are as follows:

  • Master’s (two years @ R70 000 per annum)
  • Doctoral (three years @ R100 000 per annum)

Students from the following fields are welcome to apply: mathematics, biostatistics, community and public health. However, other students who want to work in the area of mathematical epidemiology are also welcome to contact us.
