The Association of Schools of Public Health in Africa (ASPHA) was established at a meeting in Nairobi on 23 October 2010.

The Association was established to fostering the practice of public health in Africa including advocacy for public health policy, research, training and technical collaboration such as development of curricular and modules. ASPHA is to be linked with the African Union and the secretariat is in Accra, Ghana.
The representatives elected a five member Executive Committee with Professor Fred Binka (Ghana) as President and Professor Sharon Fonn (South Africa) as deputy. The other members are Professor Dan Kaseje (Kenya), Professor Oladimeji Oladepo (Nigeria) and Professor Patrick Kayembe (DRC). They are tasked with further development of the Association through broadening the membership, raising funds and organizing within the next twelve months an annual general meeting of all the schools of Public Health in Africa.

Dear, There might be occasional burseries available. Best would be however to contact the individual universities whether they provide burseries for their students. For example, Wits University has an Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, telephone 27 11 717-1070.
